Clomid, Limoncello, and Hair Extensions – Yes, Please!!

First of all, thank ya’ll so much for the well wishes yesterday.  It meant a lot and was definitely encouraging.  Thank you.

I got up at 6:30 yesterday morning.  I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to shower, do my makeup, do my hair, and still have time for coffee…  Yes, that’s right.  I drink COFFEE!!!  I know, I know… That’s the WHOLE reason I’m not pregnant.  Anyways, sometimes it takes me awhile to get ready.  Heck, I was ready by 7:40.  It was Truck Driver Burt who was running late.

We were on the road by 8:30.  It takes an hour to get to the doctor, and I wanted to get there early so I could update all of my information at the doctor’s office.  Appointment was at 10.

Once I got all of my info updated, there was very little wait time.  Truck Driver Burt didn’t mind, and he probably wished there was a long wait time.  He was drooling over a magazine with Jennifer Hopez… I mean Lopez… on the cover.

When we finally got to my RE’s office, he asked us all about our history.  I showed him a calendar of all of my cycles, and he told me they were very short for someone my age.  Oh!  One thing I did notice, my RE wears gold chains…  I thought to myself “So this must be what it’s like to be in Jersey…”  I guess he’ll be known as Dr. Jersey from here on out.  Anyways… he examined me, said that I didn’t seem to have signs of endometriosis, and that he was going to put me on Clomid for 3 cycles, and if I’m not pregnant by then, Truck Driver Burt and I have to come in for further testing.  Sweet!  I had my blood drawn.  Dr. Jersey wanted to check all of my hormone levels and see if I ovulated.  I was told that that test was going to run around $600.  Damn it…  I’m going to be keeping tabs on how much we spend, and I’m going to put it somewhere on the blog once I get the final bill.  I just remembered I was supposed to call his nurse and see how everything turned out…  I’ll do that once I’m done here.

After the doctor’s, we went to Sam’s Club, picked up my Clomid, and did some grocery shopping.  We met up with my parents and had lunch with them.  Had the best pizza I’ve had since I was in NYC, by the way.  It was delicious.  After lunch we did more grocery shopping.  I had to get quite a bit of stuff… I’m cooking spaghetti, garlic bread, stuffed mushrooms, and Limoncello cake with lemon curd filling for my birthday on Monday.  Yum!

I was so happy when we finally got home.  I was exhausted… Plus, I had a package waiting.  My hair extensions!  Yes!  Truck Driver Burt was absolutely mortified when I pulled them out.  He had never seen anything like it.  He asked me why I wanted fake hair, and I told him it wasn’t fake.  It was real hair.  He then said and I quote, “That chick could have been from a third world country, and she could have had LICE!!!”  Fail.  Epic fail.  Once I put them in though, he was digging it.

He always complains that I don’t grow my hair out… Well, it’s not that I don’t grow it out… I can’t.  If my hair gets past my shoulders, I get split ends.  Bad.  No matter how much I condition it, I will still get them.  It’s inevitable.  I’m not walking around with nasty, trashy split ends.  No way, Jose!  So, I bought extensions.

Over the next couple of days, I’m going to be cleaning house.  I want the house clean for when I start cooking on Sunday.  I don’t like to cook in my house if it’s not clean.  Is that weird?  I’m also going to be harvesting my sage from my herb garden.  It’s time to cut it and dry it.  I’ll take pictures.  Also, if my cake recipe turns out good, I’ll post the recipe.  I hope ya’ll have a great weekend!! – The Infertile Housewife

  1. My RE has diamond stud earrings it made me giggle when I first met him and it was hard not to stare at them. My initial visit was like $600 too plus the bloodwork but luckily for me insurance covered it but thats about all they have covered.

  2. I love these extensions! Would you mind sharing where you got them from? I have been considering some myself. My hair also refuses to grow past my shoulders! And that cake is making this hormonal lady consider an afternoon of baking… darn you!

  3. Belle – http://www.proextensions.com They’re the 20 inch body wave extensions. They’re really good quality, but they do need to be washed and conditioned really well when you get them. If you get the wavy ones, you’ll need to re-curl them once you wash them. I use sponge curlers. When the extensions are still damp, curl them and let them set over night.

  4. My birthday was this past Tuesday so Happy Birthday from another April girl! Im so glad it went well, and so happy you had a nice day. Your cake sounds fantastic and Id love some!! Also Im glad Belle asked about the extensions, my hair doesnt grow past my shoulders either, oh, and you are really just lovely! Happy Birthday! May your road be easy from here on out!

  5. I absolutely can NOT cook if my house is not clean. We just moved this weekend, and when my husband asked what I was cooking, my response was “nothing, till the house is settled, I can’t cook in this mess! The kitchen is the first room I set up. ;)
